Elementary School Program: Grades 4-5

The Elementary school consists of combined grades 2/3 and grades 4/5.  The AISN Portrait of a Graduate comes into focus with problem solving, communication skills, being a team player, displaying innovative thinking and an informed, as well as engaged citizen.

During Elementary school young minds are becoming more independent with their learning and making important discoveries about their place in the larger world.

Our goal is to build a foundation for lifelong curiosity, problem solving ability, confidence in oneself, and responsible citizenship.  We are motivated to create a community rich in positive expectations and participation so that each child’s innate potential for healthy development and learning will be realized. We seek to foster a fundamental respect for community and individuality, along with a desire to make the world a better place.

Students in the combined 2/3 grade classroom continue working with school provided iPads.  Combined classroom grades 4 / 5 are highly recommended to have their own personal MacBook  and must bring it each day. A limited number of (10) MacBook Airs and magic mice will be available for purchase from AISN with shipping calculations. If you are shopping on your own then the specifications on the devices are a MacBook Air 13″ screen with M3 chip, 8 Core CPU& GPU and 8 GB of memory, 256 GB SSD, and a white magic mouse. Not included, but recommended are a USB – C Digital AV Multiport Adapter and USB to C Adapter.  Students using a similar tool, along with a teacher in a project based environment is important.  AISN is moving away from PC based laptops and chromebooks, as we have found the quality is just not appropriate.

Note on school supplies: AISN provides writing utensils, erasers, notebooks, markers, crayons, glue, paper, agendas, etc. If there are special school materials that your child(ren) prefer(s) to use at school, they are allowed to bring them. Furthermore, students should bring a school bag to transport any school materials between home and school. Students should also bring their own water bottles to stay hydrated throughout the day.  Hats, sunglasses, and sunblock are suggested to wear outside during break.
