Counseling Program

Counseling and University Guidance

Our school counselor works closely with teachers and administrators to help all students reach their full potential in academic, social, personal, and career development.   Our goal is to empower them with self-knowledge, positive interpersonal skills, and coping strategies that they will use throughout their lives.  Most students interact with the counselor through regular classroom guidance lessons, but the school counselor is also available to see students individually and in small groups.

In addition, to support the recent accreditation of the high school program, our school counselor provides guidance for college to our high school students.

The school counselor works with students in a variety of ways:
  • Classroom guidance lessons
  • Individual and small group counseling
  • Crisis counseling
  • Coordinating & consulting with teachers, administrators, and parents
  • Parent workshops and presentations
  • Classroom concerns
  • Academic motivation
  • Self-concept, personal issues
  • Dealing with conflict
  • Other issues that impact school performance

Students can be referred to a school counselor by parents, teachers, themselves, or administrators. Please contact Jordan Atkinson, School Counselor, if you would like to arrange a meeting for your child.
